Sorry all for the lack of updates, work has had the better of me. If any of you are budding want to be webmasters, then let me know as I am looking to recruit an assistant to update the website when I’m not available. You MUST have knowledge of computers and some understanding of design.
Thanks to every one for the effort you put into the Winter Dinner 2010, I think you will all agree it was a massive success and a great night was had by all.
Although the auction was not meant as a fund raiser and more of a bit of fun, we raised enough money to pay for the Dinner, children’s Christmas party and Carol service without having to use any of the church funds!
On that note those of you who have not yet paid for your items please can you do so or arrange this ASAP

Children’s Christmas Party
Our Children’s Christmas part will be held on the 11th DECEMBER 2010 at 14:00hrs in the Conservative Club Gowerton. We are going to have bouncy castles, games, food, drinks, chocolate fountain and a gift for all the kids.
If you have not got tickets please can you see any of the Admin team ASAP?
Christmas Carol Service
19th DECEMBER 2010 at 18:00hrs we will be holding our Christmas Carol service at Temple URC this will be a traditional service with drinks mince pies etc.
Please can you make every effort to attend and invite as many people as you want!
The more the better!
Please can you ask the guests you had for the winter dinner to attend, it would be great!
The events team would also be grateful if you can help us out on Sunday by delivering leaflets advertising the Carol Service, Details will be given out on Saturday in Church. ( Wrap up very warm )

Unfortunately the weather forecast for tomorrow night is awful, so the decision has been made to Cancel the fireworks event… It would not have been much fun for the kids standing in the rain, no bonfire, soggy burgers, maybe next year!!!

TUESDAY 2nd NOVEMBER 2010
Please join us for a firework night on Swansea beach starting at 18:45hrs. Our intention (weather permitting) is to meet near to the decking area on Swansea beach, which is through the tunnel opposite Singleton hospital. We will have a BBQ, music and sparklers for the kids. Please contact Steve HALL for further details. (As of 21:00hrs 02/11/2010 Met office forecast is unsure, raining in the morning, cloudy in the evening! if thats the case the fireworks will be on!!! A full decision will be made Thursday evening, keep checking website for more details.)
Oasis Church Football Team!!
We have a game!!! Christchurch Newport has offered to play the mighty oasis. The 1st leg of the game will be at Newport (full details to follow) This will take place on Sunday 14th NOVEMBER 2010

Tickets for the winter dinner are selling well and we now have over 80 guests attending, I would really appreciate if you can help us obtain any gifts for our Auction.

SUNDAY 17th OCTOBER 2010
Thanks you all for helping deliver the leaflets yesterday, We covered about two thirds of Gowerton and you will be pleased to know that since the delivery, we have had over 500 hits on the website, 27% of those were new visitors.
Today saw our first Men's Prayer Breakfast. It was a great turnout with an amazing prayer session. Thanks to Steve Dyer for opening his house and Steve Hall for once again cooking, he is very quickly becoming Oasis Church resident chef. ( even if Wayne did complain about the eggs)
Becky Shaughnessy will be having the car boot sale on the 24th OCTOBER 2010. If you have any unwanted items please can you bring them to us by next Friday.
It's time to brush off your football boots and get ready for Wayne's training sessions. Prior to Christmas we will be playing Christchurch, Newport in football. more details to follow soon...
The initial response to the winter dinner has been great with over 50% of the Tickets sold. All members have now had the opportunity to buy tickets, so it's now first come first served on any extras. Please remember that the tables only hold ten persons, we will obviously be trying to sit you with your guests, but should they exceed the table number then obviously they may be seated on a different table.
More information will follow shortly for the Children's Christmas Party.

Congratulations to Simon and Sarah on the birth of their 2nd Son Harvey REES, both mother and baby are doing well.
Becky Shaughnessy will shortly be having a Car Boot sale, to help fund the Children’s Christmas party. If you have any donations or can help in anyway please speak to Becky.
Winter Dinner
A Winter dinner will take place on FRIDAY 26th NOVEMBER 2010 starting at 19:00hrs. Tickets will go on sale in the next few weeks. Space will be limited, there will be enough tickets for members and persons who attend Church, whatever is left will be on a first come first served basis. Full details of the event will be available in the next few weeks.
Ticket costs will be in the region of £20 per person this will include food and entertainment.
This is going to be a formal event and all men must wear shirt and tie.
Simon will be starting a Church events savings club from today, speak to him to find out how this is going to work.
We will be looking to have an Auction during the night, we would be grateful if you can help us obtain items. Ideally we are looking for services rather than objects i.e restauraunt voucher, round of golf etc.
Leaflet Drop
To promote Oasis Church we will shortly be delivering a flyer to all addresses in the village.
Simon has some deisgns of the flyers if you wish to see them.
A possible date to deliver these would be Saturday 16th OCTOBER 2010 this will be followed by food in either someone's house or a restaurant.

Children's Christmas Party
We are organising a Children's Christmas Party at the Con Club for Saturday 11th DECEMBER 2010 Starting at 14:30hrs
It is hoped that this will be a free event and we are looking to invite around 50 Children.
There will be Food for the children, games, bouncy Castles, entertainments and much more.
Bonfire Night
Steve Hall is hoping to arrange a Bon Fire night party on Swansea Beach. We will be taking a BBQ and a few drinks and watch the magic of St Helens Fireworks, ok well its not quite Disney But we will have fun as always. We will let you know details closer to the time.

Lots to tell you all,
Firstly, if you ever want anything to appear or think ive forgotton to add to the news pages please can you tell me.
Kathleen Rees is organising a Christmas Shoe box Appeal, please can everybody support her in this worthy charity
House groups will be changing due to the growing numbers within the Church, as of the 12th of October 2010 there will now be four groups, they will be Wayne, Rob, Steve Dyers houses plus and additional group starting at Steve & Joann Halls house. All members will be informed of the house group they will be attending in advance of the new start date. If you have any questions or concerns please speak to your house group leader.
Sam Tucker will soon be starting a a prayer group at his house once a month, this will be open to anyone who wishes to attend, possible start date 21/09/10 at 19.30 this will be confirmed by Sam via the website
Coach Avril Tucker and assist coach Becky Shaughnessy have now started the Oasis Church netball team, they will train Thursdays 7-8 (New venue to be announced soon, cause they don't want to play in the rain) and then maybe join a league. All women are welcome to join or just go and offer some support.
Members will soon have their own password protected part to the web site, I am waiting for the web company to finish the program and then i will give you all passwords. This will be for policies, minutes etc.
Jon Roberts has posted his first blog on the website ( which is excellent ) All men of the church you MUST read this!!
Happy Birthday to Pastor Steve Dyer he may be 31 but he still looks 20.... see Steve for beauty tips...
As the testimony pages are one of the most accessed parts of the website, we have decided to open this up to everybody. Therefore If anybody would like to have their testimony online, please can you email it to me with a photo.
The admin team met on Thursday and there are lots of exciting events coming your way. Hopefully by next Saturday we will have details and dates so you can plan accordingly.
However one date to keep free is FRIDAY 26th NOVEMBER 2010. That is for the Oasis Church Winter Dinner. This will be a formal occasion with food and entertainment. A Christmas savings club will start and tickets go on sale very soon.
Just to give you a teaser of some of the planned events: Bonfire night party, Children's weekday club, new years eve party, Winter Dinner, Children's Christmas party, leaflet drops and lots more
Mens Ministry is planned for SUNDAY 12th SEPTEMBER 2010 14:00-17:00 we are going wakeboarding at go wake in sa1.
Even if you dont fancy trying this out please come and support the mens work. It would also be great if every member could bring a guest.

Oasis Church service will no longer be held at Temple Church with immediate effect. Please speak to a leader if you have any questions.
We will be holding Oasis Church once again in the Conservative Club, Gowerton staring at 10:30hrs 21st AUGUST 2010.
Due to this the members meeting will be postponed until the following week 28th AUGUST 2010.

What an amazing weekend!!
Congratulations to Simon, Joann and Kate on being Baptised. It was a fantastic day and a great sermon by Steve. If anyone has photos please can you email me, as i want to put them all up on the site. Thanks to Gendros Church for allowing us to use their facilities....
Oakwood what can i say, it was supposed to be a kids day out...yet there were 23 adults and 10 kids.. mmmmm who are the kids??
Can everybody remember that after church on Saturday 21st August 2010 there is a members meeting. All members are expected to attend, if you cannot attend please can you speak to one of the leaders so apologies can be recorded in the minutes.
Netball Practice will again be this Thursday 19th AUGUST 2010 19:00 - 20:00 speak to Becky or Avril.

You will be pleased to know that since 3rd AUGUST 2010 we have had a staggering 112,009 adverts on facebook!!! Since we started advertising on facebook, which was 26th JULY 2010 a massive 241,956 adverts!!!!

Baptism Week!!!!!!
As the author of this site as you can imagine i am very excited this week, as I'm getting baptised along with Kate and Joann.
The baptism's are going to be held at 10:15hrs Gendros Church, Penrhos place, Gendros, Swansea, there will be a buffet afterwards at the church.

Remember Oakwood Park is this Sunday 15/08/2010 even if it's raining we will be going!!!! please can you be at the park and ride Gowerton ready to go for 09:30hrs ( behind Commercial Pub) We will need the remainder of the money before we leave adults are £20 each and kids £15. We will also make a list of who is going. (We don't want to leave anyone behind )
Remember to bring your own pack lunch.
Once inside we will find somewhere to all meet up for lunch, we plan to leave at about 16:30hrs.
Remember to bring a change of clothes as you may get wet. MEN you must go on the water slides :)
Oasis Church Netball Team will be meeting on THURSDAY 12th AUGUST 2010 at 19:00-20:00hrs. We will be meeting in the car park of the Elba, wear training kit. For any further info please contact Avril or becky.

Congratulations to Dawn who has made the finals on GMTV's cooks at sea. Everybody tune in this week to support dawn.
Unfortunately the family fun day has been postponed due to the current weather we are having. Steven Hall assures me that we are due for a heat wave and no doubt we will have the day then!
Thanks you for everyone that turned up to Oasis Church today held at Temple URC in Gowerton. I think you will all agree it was an amazing day and a great sermon.
Remember there is a membership meeting on the 21st AUGUST 14:00 - 15:30 all members MUST attend unless you have a good excuse!!!

For the next three weeks Oasis Church will be held at Temple Church, Sterry Road, Gowerton, Swansea. (The large church in the centre of the village.) The timings are exactly the same.
Its undecided who won the 1st Men's Ministry fishing competition, it came down to who had the most stripes on a Mackerel! we only caught 2!!! well done Stocky and Rob. We also caught several crabs, a scorpion fish ( Steve Hall), a weird fish which I can't remember the name of, and a large piece of rope, netting and mussels ( Simon Rees ) Special thanks to Rob Mainwaring who provided us with the fishing gear...

We will be starting our service at 10am this coming Sat (17/07), due to refurbishment work down stairs in the Con Club, please be in attendance no later than 10am, thank you for your support in this matter. Our next members meeting will be the 21/08/10 at 2pm, not this Sat as stated on the annual calendar.
